Burlington Junior School is an existing 4 Form Entry (FE) school with approx. 450- 480No pupils. It is located on a constrained site, with limited access, which is shared with Burlington Infant School. As the largest existing classroom block is at the end of its design life, over several years TPM Studio have worked on numerous strategic approaches for re-providing the effected accommodation, as well as expanding the school by 1FE to a 600No pupil capacity.

The proposals have been formed and shaped through a rigorous period of review and analysis of the multiple opportunities and constraints presented by the site, the building users, and stakeholders, and the wider community beyond.

The proposed scheme that has emerged at the end of this process represents the balance and compromise of all the competing inputs, and is a polite and contextual offering to the School, its various Stakeholders, and the local community.

Planning Permission for the scheme was granted in February 2022, where the proposals were described as “sympathetic, well articulated, high quality and visually attractive”. Construction work on the project began in late 2023, and phase 1 of the works is likely to complete late 2024 or early 2025.
